Seattle, WA – December 6, 2024: Today, Officer Kevin Bereta and his wife made the arduous journey to Washington, D.C., at the personal invitation of Vice President Kamala Harris.

On August 15, 2023, while protecting the VP on her visit to Seattle, Officer Bereta plunged 30 feet from a freeway overpass in Seattle. Although he survived the fall, he almost died and suffered massive and permanent injuries.

The Beretas met with the VP at her  personal residence. She was thrilled to see how much progress he had made in his recovery. She thanked him for his service and sacrifice.

Officer Bereta says:  It was really hard to make this journey. But there was no way I would turn down the honor of meeting the VP so that she could express her thanks in person. Jenny and I will remember this day forever.
